The aims and mission of Belt and Road Medical are as follows:

Fostering academic exchange: To promote knowledge sharing, research collaboration, and academic dialogue among medical researchers in Belt and Road countries and worldwide, breaking down geographical and linguistic barriers;

Serving health causes: To publish medical research findings of scientific value, clinical significance, and social impact, in the service of improving human health and well-being;

Embracing multiculturalism: To support trilingual publication in English, Chinese, and Arabic, and to respect and disseminate medical knowledge and practical experience from different civilizations;

Encouraging interdisciplinary research: To actively promote the deep integration of medicine with engineering, information science, the humanities and social sciences, management, and other fields, and to cultivate emerging areas of academic growth;

Preserving traditional medicine: To examine and disseminate research on traditional Chinese medicine, Arabo-Islamic medicine, and the traditional medicine of various ethnic groups under rigorous scientific standards, and to advance the modernization and internationalization of traditional medicine.

Belt and Road Medical adopts the Gold Open Access publishing model. All articles, once formally published, are made freely available to readers worldwide on the journal website, with no subscription fees, no paywalls, and no requirement for readers to register in order to access full texts.

All content in the journal is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Under this license, any user has the right, provided that the original authors and sources are properly cited, to freely read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, and link to the full text, or to use it for any lawful purpose, including commercial purposes, without obtaining further permission from the publisher or the authors.

The journal implements a rigorous peer review system to ensure the academic quality and scientific integrity of published content:

Review type: The journal adopts double-blind peer review. During the review process, reviewers do not know the identities of the authors, and the authors do not know the identities of the reviewers, thereby ensuring the objectivity and fairness of the review.

Number of reviewers: Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent external reviewers with relevant disciplinary expertise. The editorial board makes the final decision based on the reviewers’ comments and its own editorial assessment.

Initial editorial screening: After submission, the editorial office first conducts a preliminary review to assess whether the content falls within the journal’s scope, meets basic academic quality standards, complies with formatting requirements, and satisfies ethical requirements. Manuscripts failing the initial screening may be rejected directly without external review, so as to save authors’ time.

Review criteria: Reviewers evaluate manuscripts from the perspectives of scientific validity, methodological rigor, originality, scholarly contribution, logical clarity, ethical compliance, and reproducibility of results.

Review timeline: The journal is committed to an efficient publication process and strives to provide the first editorial decision within 1–2 weeks after submission.

Reviewer obligations: Reviewers are required to keep the content of manuscripts confidential, complete reviews in a timely manner, disclose conflicts of interest, and provide objective and constructive comments.

Author appeals: Authors who disagree with an editorial decision may submit a written appeal to the editorial office, and the editor-in-chief will arrange a re-review.

本刊实行严格的同行评审制度，以确保发表内容的学术质量和科学诚信：

评审类型：采用双盲同行评审（Double-blind Peer Review）。在评审过程中，审稿人不知晓作者身份，作者亦不知晓审稿人身份，以保障评审的客观性和公正性。

审稿人数：每篇稿件至少由2名具有相关学科专长的独立外部审稿人评审。编辑委员会根据审稿意见并结合编辑评估做出最终决定。

编辑部初筛：稿件提交后，编辑部首先进行初步审查，评估内容是否符合本刊收稿范围、是否具有基本学术质量、格式是否规范、是否符合伦理要求。未通过初筛的稿件可不经外审直接退稿，以节省作者时间。

评审标准：审稿人从科学有效性、方法学严谨性、原创性、学术贡献、逻辑清晰度、伦理合规性、结果可重复性等维度进行评审。

审稿周期：本刊致力于高效出版流程，力争在投稿后1–2周内给出首次编辑决定。

审稿人义务：审稿人须对稿件内容保密，及时完成评审，披露利益冲突，并客观、建设性地提出评审意见。

作者申诉：作者对审稿决定有异议时，可向编辑部提出书面申诉，主编将组织复审。

Belt and Road Medical adheres to the guidelines and best practices established by the following international organizations on publication ethics:

Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) — Core Practices and flowcharts for handling misconduct;

International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) — Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals;

World Association of Medical Editors (WAME) — Policy statements and editorial recommendations.

Core ethical requirements include:

Originality and anti-plagiarism: All manuscripts must be original works and must not be under simultaneous consideration elsewhere. The journal uses iThenticate (Crossref Similarity Check) for plagiarism screening; manuscripts containing substantial unreferenced duplicated content will be rejected.

Ethical approval: Research involving human subjects, human data, or human tissue must obtain approval from the relevant ethics committee (Institutional Review Board, IRB, or equivalent) and state the name of the ethics committee and the approval number in the manuscript.

Informed consent: All subjects must sign written informed consent forms. Case reports involving identifiable individuals or images must obtain the patient’s consent for publication.

Clinical trial registration: All clinical trials must be prospectively registered in the WHO International Clinical Trials Registry Platform (ICTRP) or a publicly accessible registry recognized by ICMJE (e.g., ClinicalTrials.gov or the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry, ChiCTR); the registration number must be stated in the abstract and the Methods section.

Animal experimentation: Research involving animals must comply with the ARRIVE guidelines and the approval requirements of the relevant institutional animal care and use committee (IACUC).

Conflicts of interest: All authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose relevant financial and non-financial conflicts of interest.

Authorship: Authorship is determined in accordance with the ICMJE criteria; author contributions should be specified using the CRediT taxonomy, and all authors must agree to the final version of the manuscript.

Data availability: Authors are encouraged to make publicly available the data supporting their research findings and to state how the data can be accessed.

Corrections and retractions: If errors or academic misconduct are identified, the journal will promptly issue corrections or retraction statements in accordance with the COPE retraction guidelines.

BRM accepts manuscripts written in English, Chinese, and Arabic. To ensure the international discoverability and scholarly dissemination of articles, the journal implements the following language policy:

All manuscripts, regardless of the language in which they are written, must provide an English title, an English abstract, and English keywords;

The English abstract of an original research article should adopt a structured format comprising four sections — Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions — with 250–300 words; other article types may use unstructured abstracts of 150–250 words;

English keywords: 3–6 keywords, preferably MeSH terms;

Manuscripts written in Chinese and Arabic must also provide the title, abstract, and keywords in the language of the main text;

Arabic manuscripts are typeset from right to left (RTL) using Unicode-standard fonts (Simplified Arabic or Amiri recommended), with the English metadata remaining in left-to-right format;

Chinese manuscripts must use standard simplified Chinese, and the reference format should follow internationally accepted standards.

BRM接受英语、中文和阿拉伯语三种语言撰写的稿件。为保障文章的国际可检索性和学术传播力，本刊实行以下语言政策：

1. 所有稿件无论使用何种语言撰写，均须提供英文标题、英文摘要和英文关键词；
2. 原创研究论文的英文摘要采用结构式摘要，包含背景（Background）、方法（Methods）、结果（Results）和结论（Conclusions）四个部分，字数250–300词；其他文章类型可采用非结构式摘要，150–250词；
3. 英文关键词3–6个，建议使用MeSH主题词；
4. 中文和阿拉伯语稿件还须同时提供正文语言版本的标题、摘要和关键词；
5. 阿拉伯语稿件正文采用从右到左（RTL）排版，须使用Unicode标准字体（推荐Simplified Arabic或Amiri），英文元数据部分保持从左到右格式；
6. 中文稿件使用规范简体中文，参考文献格式遵循国际通行标准。

As an open-access journal, the journal charges no fees to readers. To sustain the publication process — including peer review, editorial processing, professional typesetting, DOI registration, online hosting, and long-term digital archiving — Belt and Road Medical charges authors a one-time Article Processing Charge (APC) after a manuscript is formally accepted:

Notes:

No fees are charged during the submission and review stages; authors are only required to pay after receiving the official acceptance notification;

Manuscripts that are rejected incur no charges;

The APC is charged uniformly per article and is unrelated to the word count, the number of figures and tables, or the page count of the article;

Payment can be made by bank transfer or third-party payment, and specific payment details will be provided in the acceptance notification;

If, after payment, an article fails to be published for reasons not attributable to the author, the fee will be fully refunded.

Payment and invoicing:

Authors in China (payment in RMB): The APC for authors in China is collected in full on behalf of the journal by its Chinese partner company, Beijing Guoren Kechuang Technology Co., Ltd.  Authors may pay in RMB, and the company will directly issue a Chinese VAT invoice for the payment.

International authors : Authors may pay in USD, AED to the publisher's account; the publisher, Belt and Road FZE, will issue a UAE company receipt (issued in accordance with UAE law).

Waiver policy: The journal may offer a limited number of full or partial APC waivers to authors from low-income economies as defined by the World Bank, or for manuscripts of exceptional academic value. Waiver applications should be submitted to the editorial office at the time of submission and will be evaluated confidentially.

本刊为开放获取期刊，不向读者收取任何费用。为维持同行评审、编辑加工、专业排版、DOI注册、在线托管和长期数字归档等出版环节的可持续运营，Belt and Road Medical在稿件被正式录用后向作者收取一次性文章处理费（Article Processing Charge，APC）：

说明：

1. 投稿和审稿阶段不收取任何费用，作者仅在收到正式录用通知后缴费；
2. 被退稿的稿件不产生任何费用；
3. 版面费与文章字数、图表数量、页数无关，统一按篇收取；
4. 缴费方式支持银行转账及第三方支付，具体信息将在录用通知中提供；
5. 缴费后如因非作者原因文章未能发表，费用将全额退还。

中国区作者（人民币支付）：中国区作者的版面费由本刊中国合作公司北京国人科创技术有限公司全权代收。作者可使用人民币支付，该公司将直接为您开具中国增值税发票。

国际作者（外币支付）： 作者可使用美元、阿联酋迪拉姆支付至出版商账户，出版商Belt and Road FZE将为您开具阿联酋公司收据（依据阿联酋法律出具）。

减免政策：本刊可为来自世界银行界定的低收入经济体的作者，或具有特殊学术价值的稿件提供有限数量的全额或部分版面费减免。减免申请应在投稿时向编辑部提交，将予以保密评估。

Authors retain full copyright in their published works. Publication in Belt and Road Medical signifies that the authors grant the journal a non-exclusive license to publish, reproduce, distribute, and archive the article in various forms, including electronic and print formats, and to authorize third-party databases and indexing services to include the article. All articles are published under the CC BY 4.0 license, and the rights and obligations of authors and readers are governed by that license.

Enmarcada en la Iniciativa de la Franja y la Ruta, la revista se dirige a la comunidad científica mundial de la medicina y las ciencias de la salud, y tiene como propósito la construcción de una plataforma de intercambio académico de alto nivel que trascienda las barreras idiomáticas, culturales y geográficas. Belt and Road Medical acepta contribuciones en tres idiomas: inglés, chino y árabe.

Журнал использует модель непрерывной публикации: принятые к публикации статьи незамедлительно получают DOI и размещаются в открытом доступе в кратчайшие сроки, что обеспечивает максимально оперативную глобальную трансляцию результатов исследований; при этом тома и выпуски формируются и архивируются ежемесячно — выходит двенадцать номеров в год.

В рамках инициативы «Пояс и путь» журнал адресован мировому сообществу исследователей в области медицины и наук о здоровье и ставит своей целью создание высокоуровневой академической платформы для научного обмена, преодолевающей языковые, культурные и географические барьеры. Belt and Road Medical принимает рукописи на трёх языках: английском, китайском и арабском.

Belt and Road Medical — многопрофильный медицинский журнал, тематический охват которого распространяется на все направления в области медицины и здравоохранения, включая, но не ограничиваясь: фундаментальную медицину, клиническую медицину, профилактическую медицину и общественное здравоохранение, фармацию, сестринское дело, междисциплинарные исследования на стыке медицины и инженерии, традиционную китайскую медицину, этническую медицину, взаимодействие гуманитарных и социальных наук с медициной, а также управление медицинскими учреждениями и политику в сфере здравоохранения. Журнал не налагает ограничений на типы публикаций: приветствуются любые работы медицинской тематики, обладающие академической ценностью и значимостью для распространения научного знания.
